Dear Fellow Adventurer,

Happy New Year! 🎉 (Is it too late to greet you?) As we step into this exciting new orbit around the sun, filled with the quest for new habits (normal people call them resolutions) and fresh starts, I’ve got a little twist for our traditional “New Year, New Me” mantra.

Everywhere I look, I see folks choosing their power word for the year – “strong,” “brave,” “unstoppable.” It’s like picking out a new superhero costume, right? But here’s a fun thought: what about those not-so-flashy, everyday words that are the unsung heroes of our vocabulary?

This year, I’m embracing what might seem like the most unassuming word: “the.” Yes, just three little letters. In the words of Dr. Seuss: Oh, the places you’ll go (with it)! In my world as a transformational coach, I’ve seen how the can be a game-changer. Picture this: the conversation that turns a dream into a reality, the idea that sparks a business revolution. It’s like being a word wizard where the is my magic wand! (I’ll take that letter from Hogwarts now, please.)

Why “the,” you ask? Because it’s the quiet powerhouse of our language. It’s like the unsung hero of a sentence, always there, subtly making everything else come together, in a way, it’s like us when we help others – not always in the spotlight, but oh-so-crucial.

So, as we dive into (the rest of) 2024, I’m flipping the script. Instead of reaching for the stars, I’m focusing on the stepping-stones right at my feet. And I’m curious – what’s your ‘ordinary’ word for the year? Maybe it’s “and,” “but,” or even “if.” Let’s find the extraordinary in these everyday heroes.
